PS3 Outsells Xbox 360 Over Last 12 Months

Statistics posted by UK games site VG247 show that global sales of the PS3 for the last 12 months up to June 30th 2010 exceeded sales of units for the Xbox 360 by approximately 4 million units.

The stats highlight that the Xbox 360 shifted 10.3m units whilst the PS3 shifted 14.3m units in the same period. Overall sales for both machines since their release now stand at 38.1m for the PS3 and 41.7m for the Xbox 360 with 3.6m units between them.

Time will tell how the Playstation Move and the Kinect will affect future sales of both machines but a close race is certainly more interesting than no competition at all. As long as gamers get to play their machines and games of choice, everyone’s happy.
