Microsoft Still Pushing To Legalize The Sale of Xbox 360 In China

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Hardware Sony Playstation 3 Console Hardware Nintendo Wii Console Hardware

Perhaps the most ironic aspect of the video game industry today is that the Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii are all manufactured by one company in a country that has a ban on home consoles. Consoles have been banned in China since 2000, in an effort to “protect youth” from wasting their minds. But this has not stopped Microsoft from lobbying the Chinese government, during the China Digital Entertainment Summit. Microsoft executive Zhan Yaqin told the Shanghai daily:
“We hope to launch Xbox as soon as possible but it all depends on the government.”

“It’s an issue related to several government bureaus and there’s no timetable for a launch at present.”
The black market sale of consoles in China is huge, not surprisingly. So it’s understandable that MS has a huge interest in breaking into the Chinese market but for now, ban appeal denied.
