Konami Profits Jump 245%



Profits at Metal Gear publisher Konami leapt a massive 244.7 per cent for the quarter ended June 30, from ¥367 million ($4.2m / £2.6m) to ¥1.26 billion ($14.6m / £9.2m), while revenues were down 5 per cent, from ¥55.9 billion ($651m / £410.7m) to ¥53.1 billion ($618.4m / £390.2m).

Industry site, GI.biz noted that sales for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker were solid, helping the company double PSP sales. Sales for Winning Eleven 2010 were also good.

The company dominated in Japan, selling 2.44m units, compared to 1.08m in Europe and 1.02 in the Americas.
