Gamescom Starts Next Week

It doesn’t get the coverage of E3 or the Tokyo Game Show, but Europe’s biggest video games show Gamescom is taking place next week, running from Wednesday 18th August to Sunday August 22nd. It will be preceded by the Game Developers’ Conference (GDC), which runs from the 16th to the 18th, but for most of us, Gamescom’s the interesting one as its where publishers and developers show off their games.

Most of the big publishers will be there, and all the big games from the next handful of months will feature, including Killzone 3, Driver: San Francisco, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Rage, Crysis 2, Rock Band 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Final Fantasy XIV, and Namco Bandai should be showing Tekken x Street Fighter.

Some major publishers will be absent, including Sega and Capcom, and while Microsoft will be there for a press conference at the very least, the games they’ll feature and the format for their showing is apparently still undecided.

We’ll bring you news on the event next week and any juicy details that come out of the exhibition. For more information or tickets to the show (it’s open to the public from the 19th - 22nd) have a look at the official website.
