The developer behind the title Joe Danger, Hello Games, has recently said that they decided to release the game via PlayStation Network rather than on Xbox Live Arcade as well due to referring to Microsoft’s service as a “slaughterhouse” for smaller developers.
A member of the Hello Games development team, Sean Murray, said at the Develop Conference in Brighton today that although games can sell well on XBLA they normally sell only around 25,000 units and then disappear soon after release. He went on to say that Joe Danger allowed them to break even with 50,000 downloaded copies sold in the first week of the game being released.
Seems like a fair point for Mr. Murray to make and time will tell if their next project will remain on PSN or whether its release will make these words redundant over time.
