Japanese Have Low Interest In 3D TV Movement

A recent survey carried out by Japanese website Kakaku.com has created a little stir with the potential prospect of little interest in upcoming 3D TVs by those surveyed.

Of those surveyed, 64.7% claimed that they were not interested in buying a 3D TV. Of that percentage, 70% said that the need to wear special 3D glasses was the reason for their lack of interest, 57% said the cost of 3D TVs was the main reason and 40% pointed towards the lack of 3D content available at the moment. The head of the Kakaku.com’s media-creative team Tsuyoshi Kamada had this to say of the matter:
“Television makers' expectations for 3D are high but looking at the degree of interest among consumers, there is a big gap with the enthusiasm of manufacturers.”
It will be interesting to see however, whether the Japanese take to the 3D TV movement when they become more commonly available or not I the next few years.
