Demand For Wii And DS Declined Say Nintendo UK

In a recent interview with Radio 4 the General Manager of Nintendo UK, David Yarton has recognised that demand for their current gaming machines has declined in the UK market yet there is still a lot of interest from older and younger audiences.

When asked about what Nintendo’s machines had to offer over the PS3 and Xbox 360 Yarton had this to say on the matter:
"There are no real new models coming out. No leapfrogging. They're just derivatives of the original versions they've had."

"We obviously would like to be selling more, it has declined. But the whole market has as well, so it's not just ourselves".

"We're not recession proof. We've probably as an industry been better than other industries."
I’m sure from Nintendo’s POV declined sales is not a good thing but if they’re still in the running for top spot for installed userbase in the UK then this is no bad thing overall. I’m sure once Autumn comes along they’ll be back where they want to be once again.
