Preowned Highlighted As Major Cause Of Market Decline

A report by the analyst group Cowen and Company has highlighted that preowned game sales have contributed to year-on-year declines in overall video game sales. The study looks at the userbase of both the current next-gen machines and observes that the software sales for the current machines are 20% down on those of their predecessors, the PS2 and Xbox.

One of the group’s findings attributes the increased competition of the second hand games market as a major contributor to the current sales situation. Anyone noticed people may have even less money in their pockets soon after the recent budget announcements though?
