Nintendo Says Wii 2 Is Not Needed Right Now

The CEO of Nintendo Satoru Iwata has said that a successor to the Wii is not necessary right now in a recent interview with the BBC. He had this to say on the matter:
"Whenever we launch any new hardware, we start working on the development of the next hardware, and the Wii is no exception."

"When we run out of ideas with the current hardware and cannot give users any more meaningful surprises with the technology we have, that's when we will launch the new hardware."

"But do we need to launch a successor to Wii right now? I don't think so."
Makes sense when your current console is still shifting units even though I thought everyone in Japan already owned one already?

(...and they've just released Super Mario Galaxy 2 with perfect scores and they've got fucking GoldenEye on the way too... they're gonna sell more, and more, and more... - Ed)
