Ubisoft Applies 'Green' Strategies

Ubisoft has announced from now on, it will be introducing the instruction booklet on disc on behalf of new measures that will also see the material of the cases change to recycled plastic on PC games.

As a gamer its true that the instruction booklet is always an extra treat, and it is a shame to lose them, but the truth is that it's been a long time since old style “instruction books”, making the instructions far less interesting. Though criticized as of late, this measure is a needed one, though it would be nice to see it applied in other areas as well. North American president of Ubisoft Laurent Detoc commented on the decision:
“Ubisoft is often recognized for making great games, but it's a special privilege to be the industry leader at saving trees. Introducing in-game digital manuals is just the latest example of Ubisoft?s ongoing commitment to being a more environmentally conscious company."
Shaun White's Skateboarding will be the first of many games on console with an in-disc manual and Splinter Cell: Conviction is the first to be in the new recycled plastic boxes.
