Japanese retailers have started to stock the piracy friendly R4 cart again despite Nintendo’s best efforts to get the device banned from retail. Although the sale of the R4 is illegal Japanese authorities are unable to enforce this as the bill that was passed last year against the device’s sale does not state any criminal penalties that can be given if retailers are caught selling it.
Although I won’t say this is great (obviously) it just goes to show that what sells can’t be kept down forever. Normally Japanese law is all over things like but we can be surprised once in a while.
