Microsoft Xbox 360’s product director Aaron Greenberg has recently said that they do not intend to release a web browser for the Xbox 360 as using the Internet on a regular TV is “a poor experience.” In a question from Edge magazine Greenberg answered:
"No. We really believe that the web browsing experience on TV is a poor one, and the real magic is to take those web experiences and optimise them for the living room. That's what we did with Netflix. So, sure, you can go on the PS3 and go to Facebook and try to navigate, but it's an absolute nightmare."Admittedly from personal experience the PS3 web browser is prone to crashing but when it works it does have some useful features such as zooming in and out of pages and being able to flip between separate windows. Chances are though that Xbox 360 owners also own a PC and therefore would use that for Internet browsing instead. Still, you never know!
"No disrespect, there's things I love about the PS3, but that's not one of them. We want the online experience to be fun and optimised for the living room, and we'll continue to add more applications to get more richness"
