According to the Associated Press, the device has been barred from import into the country because North America allows its devices to broadcast Wi-Fi signals at a considerably higher level than Israel. As such, officials are concerned that the signal could cause disruptions. Communications Ministry senior deputy director, Nati Schubert stated:
"If you operate equipment in a frequency band which is different from the others that operate on that frequency band, then there will be interference."About 10 iPads have been confiscated by customs since Israel announced the regulation this week.
"We don't care where people buy their equipment... But without regulation, you would have chaos."
