Sony Admit Not Publishing Demon's Souls In US Was A Mistake

Sony have said they regret not publishing the game Demon’s Souls in the US when it was released in limited numbers but ended up exceeding initial expectations and required a further pressing of game discs due to demand exceeding expectation. Sony Japan Studios rep Yeonkyung Kim recently said about passing on the matter at GDC:
"That was a mistake. It should have come out as a first-party title."
It is understandable that Sony may not have been aware at the time of the game’s US release of the potential appeal the game would have amongst gamers (especially as it went on to roughly sell around 250,000 copies) but it is certainly a brand that if it gets a sequel will certainly have Sony’s keen eye looking in their direction and receive a bigger promotional push if they pick the second Demon’s Souls up for Western release (if it gets made anyway).
