Old Republic Will Be EA's Largest Investment Yet

A lot is expected of BioWare’s MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. Ever since its announcement the game has been covered by all kinds of media and EA has high hopes on the release of this title. The delay just got people more anxious to get it.

EA chief financial officer Eric Brown has said that The Old Republic was "largest ever development project, period, in the history of the company". He also said that any MMO needs a bigger budget than a normal retail title mainly because it must include the huge maintenance costs that involve a project of this magnitude. Brown commented:
"That's lifetime [research and development] to actually ship it and obviously then there's maintenance subsequent to ship and expansion packs."
The game is meant for Q1 2011 in theory. Hopefully we will get it in time and BioWare will accomplish everything promised so that we can recover from the Galaxies experience.
