Microsoft Causing Sony To Rebrand PlayStation Arc?

Microsoft trademarks could push a rebranding for Sony’s (unofficially named) PlayStation Arc, the name currently being bounced around a lot with 3rd party developers etc.

Last month, Sony Computer Entertainment America's Patrick Seybold had admitted that ‘PlayStation Arc’ is a "rumoured codename" for the device.

However, a range of Microsoft PC products sharing the name (the Arc part) could force Sony to think of a rebranding. If of course the device will even be called the Arc, which sounds a hell of a lot better than ‘Wand’ or ‘Gem’ as EA’s John Riccitiello referred to it last year.

Industry sources have said that Sony is looking to change the name of the device to avoid any confusion with Microsoft's range.
