GameCrush: Gaming For Losers

A newly launched website called GameCrush is helping propagate the stereotype that gamers are of a less, shall we say gregarious?, calibre. The site offers a service to (or is that exploitative of) the more socially awkward gamers where after forking out $8.25 (about £5.50) for a single 'PlayDate' which ranges between six and ten minutes, players can game with a lady-type on Xbox Live. The service is also available with a range of online Flash games where it can include video chatting, should the user want it.

‘Be a Player’ is the sites ingenious slogan.

The service apparently lets the women who game keep 60% of the earnings and there are over 1,200 potential 'PlayDates' for gamers to engage with. The depravity doesn’t end after a game however as users get to rate the girls after their ‘date’ is over, ratings based on attractiveness, flirtatiousness and in this case least importantly, gaming skill. And of course, the girls with the better ratings will be more prominently featured on the site.

Games currently supported are Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. The site hopes to add PS3, Wii and World of Warcraft support soon.

Depressingly, the site’s popularity has seen the service go down due to it being 'overwhelmed by the interest'.
