DICE are clearly set to rival Activision’s Modern Warfare: 2 with their Battlefield Bad Company 2; DICE have announced that the release of their downloadable content will fall on the same day that Activision is releasing its map pack.
The VIP Map Pack 2 will be made available on March 30th for free, providing your copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is new. So it’s a case of free Vs not so free as Modern Warfare 2 seeks to charge 1200 Microsoft Points or £10.20 for its map pack. DICE posted comments on its developer Blog:

"[New content] also plays a vital part in making sure you, the players get proper value for the money you've invested in Battlefield: Bad Company 2."Also, Modern Warfare 2 was retailed at a higher than usual starting price. Sorry, we don’t mean to pick sides, but free in the face of £10.20? Kind of makes the price tag insulting.
“This is why these map packs are available at no extra cost, contradicting the industry standard and what our direct competitors are doing."
