Autumn Release For Mafia II

2K Games has announced that Mafia II will be coming to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on August 27th in the UK, three days behind the US release date.

The game is currently in development at 2K Czech who created the original Mafia game.

The game narrative won’t stray far from conventions as players assume the life of Vito, a poor Italian-American immigrant who is desperate to rise above his background of poverty but ends up descending into the realms of organised crime. President of 2K Cristoph Hartmann said:
“While most mob-inspired games’ emphasis is solely on action, Mafia II features a deep and compelling narrative that is embellished with a sophisticated, era-evoking atmosphere.”
Thanks to a deal with Playboy, there will be a range of 1940’s and 50’s Playboy magazine covers making their way into the game . The game was announced back in August 2007 which means its had quite a development cycle. Let’s hope the time gone into it is mirrored in the final piece.
