This time it's the turn of the Patent Compliance Group who is suing Activision over the account of releasing peripherals for Guitar Hero with a patent number without a proper description of the object. The PCG’s compliance reads:
Truth is that the PCG has entered a suing spree, suing another 3 companies this last week.
"Acts of false marking deter innovation and stifle competition in the marketplace. If an article that is within the public domain is falsely marked, potential competitors may be dissuaded from entering the same market."They are searching to get up to $500 for each of the defendant’s violations, if that is for each game sold, Activision could have a problem as this includes revenues from Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and DJ Hero. The money would be shared between the PCG and the US government.
