World of Warcraft celebrates its fifth birthday this week and players will be enjoying in game perks and new content. However the anniversary has served as an excuse to alert people to the darker side of WOW.
Papers such as the Telegraph and Times have been discussing a lot of the negative elements of the game including loss of social life, divorce, addiction fuelled violence and sweat shop gold farming.
The stories include anecdotal evidence of the games potential for causing tremendous grief alongside its massive worldwide success and other positive elements the game brings like community and even marriage.
It must be noted that with anything this big there will be extremes in behaviour and if the vast majority of people maintain a balanced life whilst enjoying games like Warcraft then deviances in behaviour can probably be attributed to issues faced independently by the person.
Happy Birthday World of Warcraft.
