Oh dear, Valve has started to ban access to Modern Warfare 2 via Steam for customers who purchased cheaper keys for the game in foreign countries where it's cheaper. It's the same principal as importing a game, except instead of a physical disc, you get an unlock key instead of paying for it through the regular methods.
Modern Warfare 2 publisher, Activision had requested all keys purchased 'illegitimately' be banned from use to protect its revenue. Valve has advised owners of those keys to seek refunds from where they bought them, and to purchase the game properly through the Steam service.
Seriously though, doing the dodgy with a digital product where your license/key can be deactivated/revoked at any time... are you insane?
