The UK Labour party is the latest governmental institution to make a virtual appearance in online social world, Second Life with Business Secretary Peter Mandelson being the figurehead of the venture.
The intention of the venture is to promote the upcoming Labour blog entitled LabourList.org, which is to go live on February 12th. The move follows that of Presidential incumbent Barack Obama, whose use of ‘new media’ was credited during his successful US election campaign last year. Mandelson commented:
