In an internal interview, Resident Evil 5 development boss Jun Takeuchi has commented on the power of Internet advertising and how it will play a major role towards publicising and promoting Resident Evil 5:

“Nowadays there’s no doubt about the power of web advertising, and it looks like that area will continue to expand."Takeuchi added that 2 million global sales would merely be a starting point for the game with the intention of selling at least 3 million copies:
“In addition to all the usual speciality magazines, we’re also putting more effort into our web promotions.”
“At the low end of the scale, I would say 2 million copies worldwide,” he said when asked about sales expectations.
“I’d like to see it start there and eventually reach 3 million copies. I think users in Europe and America will be particularly pleased with the game’s content.”
