Media Molecule: "2D Isn't A Cop Out"

LittleBigPlanet LittleBigPlanet LittleBigPlanet

Sony’s Pete Smith has been defending the 2D style approach taken for creating LittleBigPlanet and feels it wasn't a cop out:
“Part of the beauty of the game being 2D is that it keeps it really simple, and that really helps."

“If you were trying to make your own gameplay in full 3D, there’d be a lot more to consider. I don’t know if it would be possible, but there would be a lot more to think about. We don’t see 2D as a cop out.”
I'm saying nothing on the subject, I get wrong all the time. There's a great interview at the source to read up on.

I think that LBP online will be flooded with hoardes and hoardes of awful user content making it hard to find decent levels to play.

So imagine if it was 3d.....

I dont think it's a cop out, 99% percent of people out there would have no idea how to make a decent 2d level let alone 3d one.
