Namco Bandai Admits Wiifeat

Namco Bandai holdings is closing down almost a fifth of the arcades that it operates in Japan, and it's all the Wii's fault. A spokesman for the rather large Japanese company said:
"A lot of the types of games that people played at an arcade can now be done at home"
What does this have to do with the Wii then? Presumably, the motion controls are helping to close the gap between the uniqueness a one-off cabinet can have and the homogeneous limitations of traditional home consoles. It's quite strange to see Nintendo enjoy this sort of dominance again. Arcades had seemed to survive the Playstation 2's home invasion, and recently there seemed to be something of a resurgence in the market.
