Just 24 hours before the launch of Skype on the PSP platform in Japan. Sony has delayed the launch of the service. The cause of the delay is that the microphones for the PSP did not meet Skype expectations. Sony had manufactured two first party microphone packages for launch day, but neither failed to met specifications defined by Skype. As a result Sony has delayed the launch of the service on their handheld platform until a solution can be found. Currently Skype has over 246 millions subscribers using their service which allows for free communication over the Internet.
